Host: Hi, this is Saima, and welcome to our first episode of an inspiring series on women's fitness journeys. Today, we have a very special guest with us—a client who is active, dedicated, and a true inspiration to everyone around her. Please welcome Mrs. Saritha. How are you, ma’am?
Saritha: I’m good, thank you! How about you?
Host: I’m doing great, thank you! So, you joined the gym back in February, right? That's around seven months ago! How has your experience been so far?
Saritha: Yes, it's been an amazing seven months. Every time I step into the gym, it brings me so much joy, and when I leave, I feel recharged and happy.
Host: That’s so lovely to hear! Can you share what you do professionally?
Saritha: I’m a teacher, actually. I teach different age groups and also plan academic curriculums for the kids.
Host: Wow, balancing that must be tough! So, how did your fitness journey begin, and what motivated you to start?
Saritha: Honestly, I started my fitness journey just a few months ago, but it has already changed my life. In the beginning, I reminded myself how strong and confident I felt in my 20s and 30s, but over time, especially after becoming a mother and dealing with health issues, I lost some of that confidence. That’s when I realized I needed to prioritize my health again.
Host: It sounds like fitness has brought back a lot of positivity into your life. What inspired you to take that first step and join a gym?
Ser: I was struggling with a few health issues, and I kept wondering how others could manage to stay so fit at my age. I realized I was missing something—workouts! I kept seeing people walking and working out every morning, and that’s when I decided it’s never too late to start. Soon enough, I found this beautiful gym and haven’t looked back since.
Host: That’s such a motivating story. So, on those days when it’s tough to work out, what keeps you going?
Saritha: Honestly, it’s the trainers and the community here. When I struggle with a workout, the trainers always come to my rescue, like superheroes! They modify the exercises to suit my body, and that constant support keeps me motivated.
Host: It’s amazing how much having the right support system can make a difference. What has been the biggest challenge in your fitness journey so far?
Saritha: The biggest challenge was moving my body in ways I hadn’t before. I suffered from thyroid issues, anxiety, and some depression, which lowered my self-esteem. But as I started working out, I could feel myself transforming physically and mentally. Those health issues are no longer holding me back.
Host: That's an incredible transformation! How do you manage to balance your fitness routine with your busy life as a working mom?
Saritha: It’s definitely tough, especially for women in Indian society. But I’ve made working out a priority, like an important appointment in my schedule. I realized that if I’m strong and healthy, I can manage everything else better—my work, my family, everything.
Host: That’s a great mindset! According to you, what’s the most important thing for women when it comes to fitness and health?
Saritha: Women need to have a strong mentality. The first step is accepting change and, more importantly, loving yourself. If you love yourself, you’ll be able to care for your family better and enjoy life more.
Host: Absolutely! Was there any fitness myth you used to believe before you started working out?
Saritha: Yes! I used to think, “Why am I not seeing changes even though I’m working out and eating healthy?” I kept comparing myself to others. But after joining the gym, I realized every body is unique, and my body’s progress would be different from someone else’s. It’s about focusing on yourself, not on how fast others are progressing.
Host: That’s such an important realization. What are your future fitness goals, and how do you plan to achieve them?
Saritha: One of my main goals is to complete a marathon. I’ve tried a few times before, but I always stopped midway. This time, I’m determined to finish it. My trainers are helping me build strength and endurance, and I feel like I’m getting closer to that goal. I also want to go paragliding again, and I’m working on getting back to that level of fitness.
Host: Wow, those are amazing goals! I’m sure you’ll achieve them in no time. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us, Mrs. Saritha. You’re truly an inspiration!
Saritha: Thank you so much! It’s been a pleasure.
And that wraps up today’s episode! A big thank you to Saritha Mam, for sharing her insights and to all our listeners & readers for joining us. Remember, every step you take in your fitness journey is a step towards empowerment and health.
